Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is an Sri Lankan. Jacqueline is the oldest of two siblings and a younger sibling. Because of the turmoil in Sri Lanka, her family were forced to relocate to Bahrain in the early 1980s. When she finished her studies in Bahrain her family was granted an Scholarship to pursue a degree at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's master's degree in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. To further develop her passion for different cultures, languages and languages, she joined the Berlitz schools of languages in which she could master Spanish and also improve her French as well as Arabic. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and participated in Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world and hosted a program about Sri Lankan business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter and badminton champ Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore and came from Copenhagen. In her teens she played in national championships of badminton at both the regional and international level. But, she resigned from the sport to pursue a career as a fashion designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalore in India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her origin. Her ancestors come from the village Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state of India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. Her mother, a travel agency, also hails from this village.
